What is SSC MTS Exam?

The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) Multi-Tasking Staff (MTS) exam is a competitive exam for the selection as an Employee in the various departments under the Central Government of India including the Havaldar in CBIC and CBN. The qualification required for this exam is Matric Pass (10th Class). Any Indian citizen with this qualification can apply for SSC MTS Exam if otherwise eligible. SSC MTS Exam is conducted once a year by the Staff Selection Commission (SSC).

Important Dates for SSC MTS 2023

The SSC MTS 2022 Recruitment could not be initiated in the year 2022, so this notification for the year 2022, is being released on January 17, 2023. and the notification for the SSC MTS 2023 will be released on June 14, 2023. SSC MTS 2023 Schedule

Qualification for SSC MTS Exam

The educational qualification required to appear for the SSC MTS Exam is Matriculation/ 10th Pass from any recognized board in India.

The age limit for the SSC MTS Exam is 18-25 years and 18-27 years. Some departments require a maximum age of 25 years, while others require a maximum age of 27 years. The vacancies are distributed on the basis of Category, age, and state.

SSC MTS 2023 Selection Procedure

As per the SSC MTS 2021 notification, the selection procedure of the SSC MTS Exam includes an objective type computer-based exam followed by a descriptive test of Essay and Letter writing in any of the preferred languages. First of all the candidates are shortlisted on the basis of a computer-based test (CBT). The shortlisted candidates then called for a descriptive test. The descriptive test includes the essay and letter writing in pen and paper mode.

The Physical Test is conducted only for the CBIC/ CBN Havaldar vacancies.

Finally, the merit list is prepared on the basis of combined scores of CBT and Descriptive paper. The merit list candidates are called for document verification and the joining process subsequently.

SSC MTS 2023 CBT Exam Pattern and Syllabus

The Computer Based Test (CBT) exam is conducted at various centers across the country. The time duration of the written exam is 90 minutes. The written exam consists of a total of 100 questions from General English, Quantitative Aptitude, General Awareness, and Reasoning with 25 questions from each subject. One mark is given for each correct answer and a 0.25 mark is deducted for each wrong answer.

The descriptive paper is conducted only for those candidates who qualify CBT/Tier-1 Exam. The Tier-2 or descriptive paper includes writing an Essay and a Letter in any of the languages included in the 22nd schedule of the Indian Constitution. The time duration of the descriptive paper is 30 minutes. The descriptive paper is conducted for a total of 50 marks.

The Physical Efficiency Test (PET) is conducted only for the post of Havaldar in CBIC and CBN.

SSC CBIC, CBN Havaldar Physical Test

The Physical Measurement Test (PMT) and Physical Efficiency Test (PET) are conducted for the candidates who clear the written exams.

The height requirement for the CBIC/ CBN Havaldar is 157.5 cm for Males and 152 cm for Females. Male candidates should also have a minimum chest size of 76 cm with at least 5cm expansion.

Male candidates should also have to complete a walking test of 1.6 Km in 15 minutes. While the female candidates need to walk 1 Km in 20 minutes.
